Library Internal Regulations
The library is a space dedicated to scientific research and reading. It is therefore essential to comply with a set of rules in order to ensure the proper conduct of the established missions, which primarily aim to serve students and provide educational resources more effectively. To this end, the following rules must be respected:
External Borrowing:
-
Any student registered at the Faculty of Medicine library may borrow two (02) books for a period of one week, renewable (15 days) if multiple copies are available.
-
Teachers may borrow three books for a period of 21 days, non-renewable.
-
Postgraduate students (DEMS) may borrow two (02) books for a period of 21 days, non-renewable.
-
Students not registered, coming from other universities, as well as doctors and candidates for specialty exams, have access only to on-site consultation, after submitting a file to obtain a temporary card:
- Fill in the information form
- School certificate (current academic year)
- Copy of diploma (for graduates)
- Two ID photos
- Copy of identity card + written request specifying the duration
– Any delay in returning books results in: 1st delay: verbal warning, 2nd delay: suspension of the card for an equivalent duration, 3rd delays: permanent exclusion
– In case of loss or damage of a book: Replacement of the same title. Otherwise, replacement with three equivalent titles
– Access to the book storage area is strictly prohibited for students.
– A suggestion register is available as well as an email to propose ideas and enrich the library.
In order to facilitate research, the library provides three search tools:
- Search via the reading room and open shelf policy.
- Search in the library catalog remotely via the website.
- Search in the database with the assistance of the librarian (FINDER).
– To facilitate the organization of materials, the Faculty of Medicine library adopts the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), with each document carrying a specific code.
– The librarian guides users and answers their questions.
Registration Service :
– The library card is personal, non-transferable, and must be kept safely.
– In case of loss, the student must complete a sworn declaration to obtain a new card.
– Registration is open throughout the academic year, and the card is issued after two days.
– The card must be renewed each year with a copy of the current school certificate.
– Students wishing to transfer to another institution or upon graduation must go to the library to obtain a temporary clearance certificate and return the library card.
– Only one copy of this certificate is issued; in case of loss, a sworn declaration is required.
– Students are registered in a digital database updated annually.
Internal Reading Room :
– Presentation of the student card or library card is mandatory before access.
– It is prohibited to remove any book without the authorization of the librarians.
– After consultation, books must be left on the table to avoid improper shelving and to facilitate their later organization.
– It is prohibited to move or damage chairs and tables.
– Gatherings and loud discussions are prohibited in order to maintain silence.
– Eating, drinking, or making phone calls in the room is prohibited.
– Exceptionally, dictionaries and atlases may be borrowed for a period of one week to maximize their use.
– It is mandatory to preserve books and not write on them or damage them.
– Any inappropriate behavior within the library is prohibited.
– The security officer ensures regular monitoring of the rooms and accompanies foreign students by guiding them.
– A full annual inventory is carried out at the end of each year after exams, with the recovery of borrowed materials. Internal consultation remains allowed until the official announcement of the end of the academic year, under the supervision of a committee composed of:
Head of the library, room supervisors, and head of the inventory service to record damaged and lost materials.
Any violation of these rules results in permanent exclusion from the library and the application of strict administrative measures.
