Conditions of Access:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Access to training in Special Medical Studies is through a national competition based on examinations for candidates meeting the following conditions:<\/p>\n

Holder of a graduation diploma or a recognized diploma.<\/p>\n

Physician, pharmacist, or dentist with civil servant status in accordance with current regulations.<\/p>\n

A resident enrolled in the first year may retake the competition once to change specialty, provided they submit a resignation 03 months before the competition date.<\/p>\n

A resident excluded from the first year due to insufficient academic results may retake the competition once to choose another specialty.<\/p>\n

The candidate may participate in competitions as many times as they are organized by the different faculties.<\/p>\n

Registration fees for the competition are mandatory and set annually by law.<\/p>\n

Foreign students may participate in the competition provided they:<\/p>\n

      Accueil et isolement de la commission d\u2019\u00e9laboration des sujets et de correction.<\/p>\n

      Accueil et orientation des candidats.<\/p>\n

      Installation des surveillants dans les salles et amphith\u00e9\u00e2tres.<\/p>\n

      Annonce du d\u00e9but du concours par le pr\u00e9sident de la commission.<\/p>\n

      Correction apr\u00e8s la fin du temps r\u00e9glementaire.<\/p>\n

      Publication imm\u00e9diate des r\u00e9sultats.<\/p>\n

      Choix de sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 :<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      Selon le principe du m\u00e9rite et dans la limite des postes ouverts, le choix se fait en pr\u00e9sence des repr\u00e9sentants de la facult\u00e9.<\/p>\n

      Les admis disposent d\u2019un d\u00e9lai de 30 jours pour renoncer.<\/p>\n

      Apr\u00e8s ce d\u00e9lai, toute d\u00e9mission emp\u00eache la participation au concours de l\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante.<\/p>\n

      The Competition<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

      Preparation of the competition:<\/strong><\/span><\/em> The competition is organized according to:<\/p>\n

      Publication of the decision setting the dates of the competition.<\/p>\n

      Publication of the decision opening residency positions.<\/p>\n

      Establishment of the different commissions participating in the organization of the competition.<\/p>\n

      Development of internal regulations.<\/p>\n

      Informing the candidates by all available means.<\/p>\n

      Setting the dates for submitting applications and required documents.<\/p>\n

      Determining the competition locations and taking all necessary measures.<\/p>\n

      Competition procedures:<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      Reception and isolation of the commission in charge of preparing and correcting the exam questions.<\/p>\n

      Provision of material and pedagogical resources (equipment, documents, etc.).<\/p>\n

      Reception and guidance of candidates.<\/p>\n

      Placement of supervisors in the rooms and lecture halls.<\/p>\n

      Announcement of the beginning of the competition by the commission president.<\/p>\n

      Correction after the end of the allocated time.<\/p>\n

      Immediate publication of results.<\/p>\n

      Choice of specialty:<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      According to the principle of merit and within the limit of open positions, the choice is made in the presence of faculty representatives.<\/p>\n

      Admitted candidates have a period of 30 days to renounce their position.<\/p>\n

      After this period, any resignation prevents participation in the competition of the following year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Registrations and Re-registrations<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

      Registrations:<\/strong><\/em><\/span>
      The registration process is as follows:<\/p>\n

      After choosing the specialty by the resident physician in the first year and registering in a special register for this purpose.<\/p>\n

      The resident physician is directly assigned to the hospital department according to their specialty.<\/p>\n

      The appointment of the resident physician in the chosen specialty is made by a joint decision between the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and the Director of the hospital institution.<\/p>\n

      Follow-up and management of the resident physician\u2019s training are as follows:<\/p>\n

      Regarding medical activities, salaries, and leave, they are managed by the hospital institution.<\/p>\n

      Regarding pedagogical training and all training matters, they are managed by the faculty.<\/p>\n

      The resident physician receives a training notebook called the (resident\u2019s notebook).<\/p>\n

      Re-registration:<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

      It is done each academic year as follows:<\/p>\n

      Firstly: for specialties without a common trunk<\/strong><\/p>\n

      The resident physician moves to the second year (02) after passing the national exam and validation of their internship by the head of department and the president of the regional pedagogical commission of the specialty.<\/p>\n

      Secondly: for specialties with a common trunk<\/strong><\/p>\n

      The resident physician moves to the 2nd and 3rd years after passing the national exam and validation of their internship by the head of department and the president of the regional pedagogical commission of the specialty.<\/p>\n

      Thirdly: progression to the other years<\/strong><\/p>\n

      The resident physician progresses in the successive years after validation of their internship by the head of department and the president of the regional pedagogical commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Duration of Training:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

      The duration varies between 04 and 05 years depending on the specialty, including:<\/p>\n

      Theoretical and practical teaching, and mandatory internships in hospital structures.<\/p>\n

      Programs are validated by (CPNS).<\/p>\n

      Re-enrollment is done at the beginning of each academic year.<\/p>\n

      Advancement to the next year is not validated if:<\/p>\n

      \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Unjustified absence of more than 10 days<\/p>\n

      \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Justified absence of more than 30 days<\/p>\n

      \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Unjustified absence of more than 03 days in theoretical teaching<\/p>\n

      \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Justified absence of more than 05 days in theoretical teaching<\/p>\n

      The resident physician may freeze a year of study once, renewable<\/strong>, for legal reasons, after approval from the head of the department, the president of (CPNS), and the dean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Knowledge and Skills Assessment<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

      The assessment is carried out annually by the head of the department with a grade and an evaluation note, then validated by the head of training and the president of the C.P.R.S.<\/p>\n

      In addition to the national exam for the first year and the second year for specialties with a common trunk.<\/p>\n

      Passing is granted with an average \u2265 10\/20 or a compensatory grade with a minimum of 08\/20 per test.<\/p>\n

      The grade obtained is retained in case of success in the make-up exam and lost in case of failure.<\/p>\n

      Repeating a year is allowed only once.<\/p>\n

      For the intermediate years (02, 03, 04, 05): progression is based on an annual evaluation validated by the C.P.R.S.<\/p>\n

      Resident\u2019s Notebook:<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

      A pedagogical document including:<\/p>\n

      Training objectives<\/p>\n

      Activities to be completed<\/p>\n

      Observations on attendance and competencies<\/p>\n

      Evaluation and progression<\/p>\n

      Exam results<\/p>\n

      Results of the Diploma of Specialized Medical Studies<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Temporary Certificate<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

      It is obtained through a national exam in two stages (regular and make-up) after evaluation and validation of the final-year internship by the head of the department and the president of the regional pedagogical committee of the specialty.<\/p>\n

      A make-up session is organized within 03 months of the regular session, and the candidate retains the passing grade from the regular session and loses it if failed.<\/p>\n

      Candidates who pass the exam with a grade equal to or higher than 10\/20 are awarded the temporary certificate of success, signed by the dean of the faculty and the university director.<\/p>\n

      In case of failure, the resident physician who has not repeated any year may re-register to take the certificate exam normally<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      If the duration of study exceeds the official training duration by more than one year, the resident physician is allowed to register for the certificate exam as an independent<\/strong> candidate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Rights and Duties<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

      Duties<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

      Under the supervision of the head of the department, the resident physician participates in the following activities:<\/p>\n

      Treatment, diagnosis, and prevention.<\/p>\n

      Emergency duty and department duty.<\/p>\n

      Scientific research.<\/p>\n

      Teaching practical work for medical students and paramedical staff training.<\/p>\n

      Participation in meetings and lectures organized by the faculty where they are registered.<\/p>\n

      Adherence to work and training hours estimated at 10 half-days in addition to duty, with compensatory rest.<\/p>\n

      The resident physician is subject to the internal regulations of the assigned institution.<\/p>\n

      Rights<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

      The resident physician is entitled, according to legislation, to the following rights:<\/p>\n

      Protection from any assault, regardless of its nature.<\/p>\n

      Benefit of 30 days of annual leave.<\/p>\n

      Benefit of transportation, meals, clothing, and health coverage.<\/p>\n

      In case of conscription for national service or re-conscription, the resident has the right to continue training even beyond the number of days at the start of the interrupted academic year.<\/p>\n

      Female residents are entitled to maternity leave upon request<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      Pregnant female residents are exempted from duty starting from the 28th week.<\/p>\n

      Female residents benefit from breastfeeding hours.<\/p>\n

      The resident physician has the right to be seconded inside or outside the country to continue training.<\/p>\n

      The resident physician receives a salary calculated based on the assistant specialist practitioner in public health without grade, according to the following percentages:<\/p>\n
